SHUCKERS
Garage Headquarters: Greenwood, NE
Driver: Justin Kosar or Clint Ross
Mechanics: Brian Doyle, Kyle Gannon, Justin Kosar, Scott Lee, Clint Ross
Nuts and Bolts:
Justin Kosar, a freshman at Southeast Community College in Lincoln, Nebraska, was the instigator. He saw a commercial for Red Bull Soapbox Race and took the idea to Brian Doyle, his friend and co-worker. Yep, the pair agreed, a road trip sounded good; so they got in touch with Scott Lee, who had raced an AMC Hornet against Brian in a 2005 event. Scott jumped at the invitation and proceeded to get on the horn to his dad, Al Lee. Al, you see, has a history of racing Porsches. Despite his elite experience, Al confirmed that he would be more than happy to put his skills to work on a human-powered effort. There was only one thing the team still needed: an insurance adjuster. Well, actually, they needed Clint Ross, who happens to be an insurance adjuster but spends most of his free time fixing up classic cars. Team "Shuckers" was set.
"We all have a passion for anything with wheels," says Brian, noting that they're especially looking forward to the excitement of race day. "With myself, Scott, and Al all from a racing background, we're used to making last-minute adjustments and tweaks in a hectic environment. I believe that makes everything much more fun!"
