SYBERG'S
Garage Headquarters: Maryland Heights, MO
Driver: Brian Scoggins
Mechanics: Tom Beerman, Dan Hall, Mike Paganini, Mark Russel
Nuts and Bolts:
Syberg's restaurant is famed for introducing ocean shark as a menu item to the landlocked (if you don't count the river) diners of St. Louis. For a quarter of a century they've been offering shark nuggets, shark steaks, and a variety of other tasty dishes for the whole family. But in October 2006, Syberg's will be serving up something entirely new: an entry at Red Bull Soapbox Race. Hopefully, the combination of aluminum, sheet metal, and foam that's being used to construct "Syberg's Bomber" will prove to be a winning recipe.
Dishing out the hometown racer against more than 30 other teams will be five friends who know how to put on a good game face. Tom Beerman, Dan Hall, Mike Paganini, Mark Russel, and Brian Scoggins met playing poker years ago. Eventually they started their own poker game, which takes place after Syberg's closes, from 2am until 7am every Monday night. The stakes at Forest Park will be a little higher than they're accustomed to, however: if they play their cards right on October 28, they just might win the top prize of a weekend trip to a 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race.
