Nuts and Bolts:
The Spocktoberfest team has traveled back from the future to participate in Red Bull Soapbox Race. Their leader explains that Vulcan scientists used time warp technology to visit 21st-century Earth for the purpose of studying harvest festivals in post-industrialized civilizations. Their initial attempt placed them near Munich, where they found the occurrence of an event known as "Oktoberfest" in a month called "September" to be completely illogical. (They were, however, intrigued by a primitive dance that the natives called "pol-ka.")
The researchers decided to collect more data, and they set their coordinates for the actual Earth month of "October." They found themselves in a town that was preparing for a festival where the concept of gravity would be tested with vehicles. "At last!" states the pointy-eared leader (with emphasis, if not genuine emotion), "a place where the intellectual capacity of Vulcans can be applied to a cold, hard problem." For more accurate observation, the alien life forms will attempt to blend in by racing a starship equipped with warp drive technology (which, you have to admit, isn't specifically forbidden in the rules). The Vulcans mean no harm. They mean only to win. "Live long," says their leader in greeting, "and polka!"
