Nuts and Bolts:

"I would love to tell you about my team," says Kurt Wagner, referring to himself and Heather Carriker, Nate Carriker, Waseem Cossor, and Mark Wagner. "Nate, Waseem, and I all met as college freshmen. It was, ohhhh... about seven years ago. We met Heather through the student radio station where I used to work, and Mark is my brother of about twenty years."

The friends remained tight even after Kurt, Nate, and Waseem finished their studies at the University of Missouri-Rolla. In fact, Nate and Heather got extremely close: they're now married. The lovebirds were the ones who saw a television ad about Red Bull Soapbox Race and alerted the rest of the group to the call for entries. "We're just a crazy gang of kids with big dreams of making a hat-shaped soap box car, but we're very, very, very serious about competing," states Kurt, who will be driving the team's car (unless someone else on the Derby-Derby roster proves to be "ridiculous fast" in trial runs). He shares that he recently found some "boss" soap-box-type wheels at a flea market, notes that Nate has been practicing a "wicked" dance routine, and, barely pausing for breath, confirms the obvious: "We're all super excited!"
