Nuts and Bolts:

Get ready to get your groove on September 29th with The SuperSonics. Taking their moves from the court to the track are Seattle Sonics’ dance team members Sunne Drinkwater and Ashley Thorvilson, who will be accompanied by team mascot and local favorite, Squatch. After asking around as to what exactly Squatch is – the team members simply refer to him as an unidentified species – there seems to only be one answer: Red Bull Soapbox Race driver.

With a craft inspired by the Boeing Supersonic jet, the girls are gearing up to put on a top scoring dance routine for their skit and then send their craft flying down Fremont Avenue. Their plan to impress the judges? “We have the most unique driver, the most beautiful and spirited team members and the fastest soapbox.” The team is so confident that they’ve already allocated a spot on their mantle for the trophy. Sounds like a slam dunk – we just hope that the driver’s furry uniform allows for good vision …cause nobody wants to see Squatch get squashed.
