The quest being undertaken by The Fourth Dimension team is simple: to return pilot Dan Haber to the future. To do it, they’ll build a replica of the train from the film Back to the Future III. “We met Dan thousands of years ago into the future and we are now holding him hostage to help us build the train so he can get back to his time,” team captain Philip Sheffield admits. “It would have been too simple and obvious to build the DeLorean from the first movies, so we decided to build the full train from the third movie as a challenge.”

With a construction manager and car restoration experts on the team, they’ll build their soapbox out of PVC piping, bike wheels and brakes, and various metal and plastic parts. Airbrushed cardboard will give it an “aged, yet futuristic train” look. The details are important in the movie business. In fact, the crew’s wardrobe will reflect the movie’s characters, down to the skateboarding Marty McFly. “If Dan can get the train up to 88 miles per hour, he will warp back to his time.” But, The Fourth Dimension team knows consequences are high. “If Dan doesn't get back to the future now, he never will.”
