Skivalanche
Garage Headquarters: Seattle, WA
Driver: Matt O'Laughlin
Mechanics: Al Meader, Joe Erfle, Zach Heise, Andy Jytjan
Nuts and Bolts:
The crew from Skivalanche lives in a perpetual state of downhill in a so-called Endless Winter. They do so as product engineers at K2 Skis, which recently relocated to Seattle from Vashon Island, WA. “The inspiration is the products that we work on every day, skis and snowboards,” writes team captain and driver Matt O’Laughlin. “The soapbox will be made of an aluminum frame, downhill bike tires/brakes, Ptex, cardboard, and skis.” Of course, it wouldn’t be a skiing experience if there wasn’t an Après ski party to accompany it. In their pre-launch skit, the Skivalanche crew plans to wear “lots of turtle necks, skiing and one-piece powder suits.” Thus, expect Skivalanche to carve out a niche following with the Pacific Northwest’s ski enthusiast crowd.
