Lincoln Log
Garage Headquarters: Boulder, CO
Driver: Al Brody with co-pilot Bill Coker
Mechanics: Svend Brandt-Erichsen, Aimee Dorman, Mitch Brown
Nuts and Bolts:
The Lincoln Log team members are on a mission. A mission to make a third podium finish (some team members finished first at 2005 Red Bull Dragster Day Detroit and second at 2006 Red Bull Soapbox Race St. Louis). A mission to raise more money for the American Red Cross (they’ve raised $17,000 to date with past winnings). And a mission to win the hearts of Seattleans. “Soapbox is a chance to combine going fast and being crazy in one wacky package – GPPA (Gravity Powered Performance Art),” writes team captain Svend Brandt-Erichsen, whose farmland on Bainbridge Island, WA will serve as the final test site.
Comprised of mostly Colorado-based members, this experienced group may be the most capable to pull it off. “We will use a welded steel frame wrapped in fiberglass to represent the logs of the cabin that Abraham Lincoln grew up in; to show that even from a simple beginning, that someone can achieve greatness.” And if the soapbox doesn’t do it, then they’ll “pass out pieces of paper with his Lincoln’s face on it, such as issued by the US Treasury.”
