Listen up ladies: want to come out and meet some hot guys on Fremont Ave. this September 29th? No really, we mean hot. As in flaming! Come meet Morris Toreseth, Savun Krith, Tim Freeburn, Chris Booth and Damon Jons, also known as team Down in Flames. These mechanical engineers-turned-firefighters are sure to get your engine going.

As CAD designers at Ascentec Engineering in Portland, these teammates first got the racing bug a couple years ago during a night of indoor go-karting at a company Christmas party. After searching for a competitive project to tackle and finding Red Bull Soapbox, the guys knew they had to take their skills to the Seattle streets. After tossing around ideas (as Torseth explains, “We want to get crazy and have fun – one of our ideas was literally just two wheels!”) they finally settled on a classic, iconic vehicle: a shiny red fire truck. With a skit planned that includes firemen gear, sirens and water guns, this is one soapbox that is sure to be smokin’.
