“Ahoy, me hearties! This be the place! We be passin’ the Golden Gate, and the Barbary Coast awaits!” bellows Mustacio, captain of The Vincible, his facial hair billowing almost as lustily as the sails of his ship.

From the crow’s nest, a confused crew member named Cervantes bleats, “Shiver me timbers, Cap’n, when we set sail from our pirate’s lair off Puget Sound, you said we be aimin’ to plunder San Francisco!?”

“Arrrrgh, ye son of a biscuit eater! That there Barbary Coast, she BE San Francisco!” the fearsome Mustacio roars. “Ain’t ye learned that we pirates have a special name fer everythin’?”

With a twinkle in his eye (his ONLY eye) and a jolly “yo ho ho,” the first mate – a dashing figure known simply as La Maudite – swaggers over to smooth the waters. “Methinks ye be loadin’ the rum casks when Cap’n Mustacio charted our course, Laddie,” he purrs in baritone. “We be preparin’ to engage some loutish landlubbers in grand, glorious combat. ‘Tis our chance to show those scurvy dogs that The Vincible be …uh…argh…ummm… Blast, she be INvincible!”

As the bold buccaneers bellow with laughter, Mustacio calls, “That’s the spirit, me boys! With our swashbucklin’ ways we shall eat the hearts of all who challenge us and win the heart of every lass we spy.” Pointing The Vincible toward Delores Park, he declares, “San Francisco shan’t be needin’ to see another race after this!”
