Yo, yo, yo! Listen up, y’all. There’s a race on Dolores Street October 18, and one team on the roster is unnaturally mean. They call themselves the Master – Master Blasters, you know; and there’s just one word in their vocabulary: it’s go. They don’t have a big posse, with a team of just three; but when you are pure evil, three is all that you need. These dudes are in their thirties, so they’re fully grown men; the one called Kendrick Anderson prefers the name Ken. Then there’s William “Solo” Ringgold and that Pittman guy, Craig. (He calls himself the Joker, but his jokes lay an egg.) They say they graduated from the School of Hard Knocks, and they think they’re going to triumph with a rolling boombox!

Don’t get the wrong idea, they are not b-boys for real; but they grew up chillin’ on the streets, it’s just what they feel. When it comes to hip-hop culture they are each a big fan, so they’ll all be representin’ at the comp in San Fran. “It’s our b-boy cart of death,” William taunts in your face. “When I drive it, I’ll obliterate the rest of the race.” “Tell it!” yells the Joker, “did you know we’ll be armed? We’ll be packin’ something irresistible: it’s our charm.” “Hand the trophy over now, then let the contest begin,” Ken says, “ ‘cause everybody knows the b-boys will win!”
