Nuts and Bolts:

The members of Team Slumberbusters are a self-proclaimed band of troublemakers and ne’er-do-wells who enjoy "all aspects of shenanigans, tomfoolery, and other assorted mischief.” As they tell it, they're similar to the Goonies, but with three guys playing Chunk. Andrew Argeski, Craig Breslawski, Devin Fallon, Joe Hanley, and Trey Roy aren't particularly familiar with soap, let alone soapboxes; but Fallon once built a pinewood derby car, so they figure they've got a decent chance at constructing a viable vehicle. The group has honed their engineering skills maintaining their cozy but crumbling fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon at Dartmouth College.

This free-spirited bunch was inspired by a predictably unorthodox group of movie heroes (besides the Goonies). "Our racer is based on the two greatest films ever to grace the silver screen: ‘Ghostbusters I and II,’" says Argeski. The gang is grateful for the generous contributions of fellow students eager to see Dartmouth at the top of the soapbox standings. However, the majority of construction funds still come from Fallon’s panhandling proficiency as the spray-painted, robot-dancing “Statue Man” in New York’s Times Square. “How bad do we want to win?” asks Argeski. “Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light. That bad.”
