Rocky Car-Go-A
Garage Headquarters: Downingtown, PA
Driver: Brent Wilson
Mechanics: Chris Raymond, Allen Silveri, Rich Carango, Chris Henneghan
Nuts and Bolts:
Downington’s Brent Wilson likes to say, “Life is short – live fast,” and he walks his talk. Not only does the 31-year-old polish his standup act while also maintaining a successful career in advertising, but on September 6 he’s going to race Rocky Bal…uh, make that Rocky CARgoa down the treacherous Manayunk landmark known as The Wall.
In true advertising fashion, Brent and his buddies from Philadelphia’s Schubert Communications – Rich Carango, Chris Henneghan, Chris Raymond, and Allen Silveri – say their entry is inspired by “the fighting pride of The City of Brotherly Love…the story of the underdog…a little old and salty, but full of heart and hope, just like the city where the story took place.” The thousands of spectators on race day will be sure to get the message, as Rocky (Brent) engages in punching meat and other Stallone-tastic acts before jumping in a racer that bears the image of the fictitious boxer’s bruised and battered face right on the front. (Those aren’t headlights – they’re shiners.) Construction of the car is taking place evenings and weekends in a Downington storage shed, with Chris Raymond’s background as a “muscle car gearhead” and Rich’s professional skills as an art director coming in especially handy. “Our biggest challenge on race day will be getting this bad boy to stop!” says Brent, adding, “That is a steep hill!”
