For more than 25 years, Troy Lee has been providing equipment “For The World’s Fastest Racers.” From F1, Indy, NASCAR, and road racing to motocross, enduro, freestyle, and even MTB and BMX, Troy and the staff at Troy Lee Designs work with the best in the world.

Easy there, Red Bull Soapbox Race competitors; we know what you’re thinking. But Team Troy Lee Designs is most definitely not a professional racing entry. Troy and his colleagues don’t produce vehicle components – they specialize in custom helmets! As a pro motocross racer in the late 1970s, Troy started painting designs on his friends’ helmets, and things snowballed. “That’s when I realized that my dream just might come true,” he remembers. “I could actually make a business out of the two things I loved most, painting and racing.” Today, his Corona-based company is a full-force operation, offering products from helmet visors and graphics to casual wear and a Speed Equipment Racewear line. Troy Lee Designs sponsors a variety of racing athletes and has a motocross team, a Supermoto team, and now…yes, they’re branching out into the free-for-all of soapbox absurdity. And instead of putting one of his sponsored athletes behind the wheel, Troy will steer the gravity-powered entry himself! With typical creativity, Troy, head race technician Matt Jory, and their teammates Michael David, Paul Gauvry, Tony Lee, David Pingree, and Ben Smith are producing a spectacular racer that looks like a Chinese dragon. They promise, “We will dazzle the crowd with a feast for the eyes.”
