Eager Beavers
Garage Headquarters: West Linn, OR
Driver: Jeff Woolson
Mechanics: Brian Pavlukovich, Sean Roberts, Tyler Lorenzen
Nuts and Bolts:
When it comes to their chances for success, The Eager Beavers are realistic rodents. “We are probably not going to win the People’s Choice Award,” shrugs team captain Jeff Woolson. “We’re basically promoting a rival school, and I don’t know if the locals will appreciate that.” Jeff and his teammates Tyler Lorenzen, Brian Pavlukovich, Sean Roberts, and Adam Skach are students at Oregon State University (home of Benny Beaver), and they’re definitely heading into enemy territory in Los Angeles. But they felt the need for a school-break activity and – especially since this is their last summer vacation before graduation – the opportunity to hang out with friends while building a beaver-mobile seemed worth the hazards of facing down unappreciative Bruins and Trojans.
Their racer is under development at Jeff’s barn in West Linn, Oregon, about 75 miles north of OSU’s campus in Corvallis. “It’s away from pretty much all civilization,” Jeff says. He goes on, “A few of us have worked in remodeling, and one guy is some type of engineer. [That would be another teammate, Cody Wolff, a 24-year-old who is the “old man” of the crew.] We also have someone that can weld, so hopefully, between all that, we’ll be able to put something together.” The teammates are musically inclined, too – they play in a band and record their music when they find the time. If good things come in laid-back packages, The Eager Beavers stand a dam good cha
