Urine it to win it

Mechanics: Matt Stansbury, Andreas Roiniotis, Brian Bussey, Aaron Seitz
Nuts and Bolts:
Dr. Robert Banks can now die a happy man. Sure, the good doctor can look back fondly on his long-standing work with the Kidney Foundation of Greater Cincinnati. Yeah, he’s got the published articles and professional citations. But none of those accomplishments will stack up to the achievement that awaits Dr. Banks on October 4. Thanks to five of his students in the Master’s of Physiology program at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Banks will become the first physiologist to inspire a human urinary tract on wheels.
Team captain Jeremy Salsberg describes his team’s racer “as an homage to our program director, who loves the kidney. It will be a three-wheeled working rendition of the urinary tract made of anything we can get our hands on.” Hopefully, they don’t get their hands on any working parts while racing stools around the research lab, which Jeremy notes as a favorite pastime. Although the racer comes complete with kidneys, ureters and a bladder, anatomy enthusiasts will lament the lack of a proper urethra. Fear not -- Jeremy promises that the team will “spray everyone with our urethra cannon,” which will “keep the crowd cool.” After showering the crowd, Jeremy will hop into the cockpit and attempt to further Dr. Banks’ legacy by achieving Red Bull Soapbox greatness.
