First Step - select a team:

Team Clermont "Deathtrap"

Garage Headquarters: Atlanta, GA

Driver: Amy Olson

Mechanics: Chuck Jeffress, Jason Taylor, C.J. Cook, Albert Apleen

Nuts and Bolts:

Of the four members of Team Clermont, three hold an adult entertainer’s license. But you don’t need to leave the little ones at home, folks. These professionals promise a family-friendly skit on August 29. They’re cool with kids, and the only thing fast about them will be their car.

Security expert Chuck Jeffress, bartender Amy Olson, and barback Jason Taylor all work at The Clermont Lounge, which, as Atlanta’s oldest continuously running strip club, is a city institution. The venue’s many accolades include numerous “Best of Atlanta” lists, including the Citysearch list of Best Places to Be on Your Worst Behavior and “Stuff” magazine’s roster of Best Dive Bars in America. Fans of the establishment on Ponce De Leon Avenue are particularly fond of Blondie, a surprisingly poetic stripper with mammaries that can flatten beer cans. Blondie won’t be risking her assets amid the hay bales on the race course, but her effigy -- a bewigged skeleton with its sharp features softened by the gentle light of a disco ball – will be the high-profile “passenger” on the team’s coffin-shaped “Deathtrap” soapbox racer. To create the macabre vehicle, Chuck, Amy, and Jason have enlisted Amy’s boyfriend, C.J. Cook; he is generously providing the workshop space for putting finishing touches on the craft. Consummate entertainers, this group promises more than dazzling performance on and off the track – they’ve gone multimedia. Chuck explains, “We have a documentary about the building of the car in progress. Our car will be the ONLY car to feature multi-angle cameras shooting from the driver’s perspective as well as reverse and side-angle perspectives.”
