First Step - select a team:

Equus Vires Maximus

Garage Headquarters: Roswell, GA

Driver: Brian Ashmead

Mechanics: Sahara McGraw, Ken McGraw, Brad Hood, Jose Marquez

Nuts and Bolts:

Ahhh, the glory of Ancient Rome. It ain’t what it used to be. Back in the day, you had togas made of the finest linen, chariot races thrilling the throng, and Charlton Hest… that is, Judah Ben-Hur, racing masterfully through the turns and emerging victorious at the finish. And these days? Well you’ve got togas made of bedsheets, homemade soapbox cars scintillating the spectators, and instead of an epic bromance (rent “Ben-Hur” if you don’t believe it), you’ve got a classic battle of the sexes – with Ben Him and Ben Her!

At the race on August 29, Brian Ashmead, Brad Hood, Jose Marquez, Ken McGraw, and Sahara McGraw will be presenting a most spectacularly spectacular spectacle with their entry Equus Vires Maximus (Maximum Horse Power). They wouldn’t want to give everything away, but suffice to say that their presentation will include standard bearers, breastplates, centurions, and all that blockbuster stuff, plus members of the famed Seed & Feed Marching Abominable (“Atlanta’s wildest community band”) heralding the proceedings with music and theatrics. The team’s chariot promises to be a work of art, too: Jose is an internationally renowned sculptor, and the group collectively boasts experience in not only sculpture but also general metalwork and scenic fabrication. Who will earn the laurels in the battle of Ben Him and Ben Her? Only an oracle could know in advance, but if you strap on your sandals and head to Tenth Street, you can get the empirical data for yourself.
