Nuts and Bolts:

“This might get ugly,” mutters B-rad Cochran as he wields a screwdriver over something that looks suspiciously like a surfboard with wheels. “Whose idea was it to put a particle accelerator on this baby, anyway?” Cochran’s buddies Mark “Silver Back” Inge, JJ Madrius, Tyler Cochran, and Jonathon “Wonder Boy” Wonderly unsuccessfully attempt to stifle their guffaws. The five friends have spent a lot of time working on their motorcycles together, but they’ve never built a soapbox racer, and they’re thoroughly enjoying the experience.

“We all have a love for doing things that most people think are just crazy,” admits B-rad, captain of the Baja Surfers team. “We really are a group of misfits. None of us look like we belong together, and we all have something different to bring to the table.” B-rad works for Yamaha, while “Wonder Boy” fixes air conditioning units, Mark is reported (by thoroughly unreliable sources) to be a professional cage fighter, and Tyler is said to be checking out Star Search, looking for his next gig. JJ can take responsibility for bringing them all together – as the owner of Baja’s Bar and Grill in Newnan, Georgia, he provides the perfect place to hang out, eat amazing seafood, and dream up insane ideas like a surfboard racer. “We’re going to show all the people who said it can’t be done,” B-rad promises, “and then for years to come we’ll sit around and laugh about it.”
